NIFT Policy Statement
 

 
  All courses submitted by host agencies, recognized Training Officer Associations, and or Federal or State Government Representatives will be approved by a NIFT Course Administrator and the Instructor Coordinator for accreditation, college affiliation and instructor qualifications/approval.  

Host agencies,  Training Officer Associations, Federal or State Government Representatives  shall provide NIFT with the desired course name, date, and host location.  Those course dates shall be submitted for acceptance and publication on or about the eleventh month (November) of each calendar year.

Courses requiring on-site Safety Officers and or Incident Action Plans (IAP) are the sole responsibility of the host agency or instructor presenting the course.  Participation in these courses or others that require the student's Department/Agency sponsorship to assure that the student is covered by Workers Compensation Insurance or those courses that require a Waiver of Liability Insurance is the sole responsibility of the host agency or instructor presenting the course.
 

 
 


Cancellation and Return Policy

COURSE CANCELLATION

Courses that do not meet the minimum student enrollment 2 weeks prior to the scheduled course date will be cancelled.  Unless otherwise specified, a NIFT Administrator will contact registered students and return all registration fees to them. 

NIFT will not be held liable for cancellation of classes due to minimum enrollment requirements or last minute cancellation of classes due to instructor emergencies.  NIFT will not be held liable for  the cost or fees associated with the cancellation of transportation and or lodging. 

In the event of a cancellation due to an instructor emergency, all student tuitions will be refunded.  

STUDENT CANCELLATION

Pre-paid registration fees may be fully refundable providing notification is received 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the first day of class.  Cancellations received less than 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the first day of class will be entitled to a refund of the pre-paid course registration fee less any administrative fees not to exceed 50%.  Cancellations received the first day of the class or there after will be entitled to a refund not to exceed 25% of the registration fee.

 this policy will be strictly enforced...no exceptions



FAILURE OF FINAL EXAM (S)

Students who have failed one or more parts of the course final exam (written, practical, or both) and at the Instructor's discretion, have 30-days to retake the exam.  Students are allowed only one retest at a place and time designated by the course Lead Instructor and must be proctored by the course Lead Instructor or his/her designee.  NOTE: Due to the complexities of administering a final exam consisting of both a written and practical field exercise, only a retest of the written exam is allowed.  Students who fail the practical field exercise exam will have failed the course.
 

 
 



INSTRUCTOR PAYMENT

Instructors hired by NIFT are considered independent contractors.  Upon course completion, instructors will invoice NIFT for their services.  Invoices will include course title and date (s), hourly rate, and hours of instruction.  Unless otherwise agreed to by the Instructor and a NIFT Administrator, all required course hours taught for each certified course is regulated and approved by NWCG (or other recognized national standard setting authority).  All instructor hours paid for will be subject to these listed hours. 

Unless otherwise agreed to, all student and course materials purchased, developed, or replicated for the course presented are the sole property of NIFT-Firecourse.com.  It is important for the course Lead Instructor to submit course materials for duplication prior to the start of the class.  Only costs incurred by the Lead Instructor for student materials used will be reimbursed to the Instructor with a valid receipt.

It is the Lead Instructor’s responsibility to ensure that the course budget is not exceeded.  Any excess of the course budget will be the responsibility of the Lead Instructor unless otherwise agreed to.

Typical Instructor Salary Schedule  

Lead Instructor         $90.00/Hour
Co-Lead Instructor    $85.00/Hour (S-212  and OSHA Forklift Ops. Certification ONLY)
Adjunct  Instructor    $60.00/Hour

(NIFT reserves the right to negotiate Instructor salaries based on student enrollment and course topic)
 

 
 


ON COURSE COMPLETION

At the completion of the course, the Lead Instructor hired by NIFT-Firecourse.com will forward a class roster and any fees collected to the designated NIFT Course Administrator.  Course certificates will not be issued until payment is received. 

All Lead Instructors will coordinate with the NIFT Course Administrator prior to the beginning of the course to receive a class roster and determine which students have pre-paid their fees.  Unless the certificates of completion are available to the students at the completion of the course, it will be the NIFT Course Administrator’s responsibility to ensure the student(s) received their certificates in a timely manner.  The Lead Instructor and or instructors will contact the NIFT Course Administrator at the completion of the course for an After Action Review (AAR) of the course.
